15 Years ago, we saw Krushed & Sorted from African Dope Records playing a show, and it changed our lives.

Since then we’ve made music as  a DJ and Production duo, we’ve played countless gigs up and down the country playing everything from big band swing to drum & bass. We’ve been nominated for two SAMA awards. We’ve produced music for a bunch of TV commercials.

We’ve morphed into a 9 piece band with one of the best Horn sections out there, two incredible vocalists, a vj, a drummer and a guitarist who have all done incredible things in their own right.

We’re a big musical family. We like to travel and we like to meet people through music and have a good time. That’s the purpose of life in the end. To connect with good people, to share experiences with them, and to learn from them and to grow.

You can read a little about each band member below.

Callum McDonald

One of the youngest people ever to grace the stage of Rocking the Daisies, a man with a complete obsession for guitar, bass and gaming, he truly is a one of a kind individual.

Crosby Bolani

One of the original African Dope Soundsystem MC's and one of South Africa's greatest toasters, Crosby a.k.a Digianolog is straight out of Gugs.

Inka Kendzia (the Grrrl)

She's one of Cape Town and South Africa's foremost visual artists, loves to nerd out on new tech and ways to play with it, runs a successful post production company MEME in Cape Town, and often beats Jon in spontaneous dance-offs. She is The Grrrl.

Sean Ou Tim (Mr. Sakitumi)

Sean a.k.a Mr. Sakitumi has played in so many outfits down the years it's hard to know where to begin. A multi instrumentalist, playing keyboards, bass, drums, turntables and saxophone, he always has time for anyone who is excited about making music.

Ross McDonald

Trombone / The Beard

Ross 'Da Bone' McDonald, what a trombone player. He plays in Hog Hoggidy Hog and the Rudimentals aside from Mix n Blend, as well as running an amazing studio, Hey Papa Legend. In his spare time he likes to pursue his other passion aside from music, beard growing.

Lee Thomson

Trumpet / Keyboards

Lee aka "Lee Lips" Thomson is one of the most versatile horn players and musical personalities in this country. Member of veteran punk band Hog Hoggidy Hog, Jazz electronic outfit closet snare, co-owner of Straight no Chaser Jazz Club with Kesivan Naidoo, he is aside from all that one of the nicest humans you could ever hope to meet.

EJ Von Lyrik

EJ started out in her musical career with the hip hop group Godessa on African Dope records. She moved onto a successful solo career after that before deciding to lend her talents to Mix n Blend. When Chuck D tells a crowd you're one of the top 3 female MC's he's ever worked with, you know you must be pretty bad-ass.

Kevin Ribbans

Producer / Samples

Kevin grew up under the watchful eye of a mother who happened to be a concert pianist. After he left school, together with Jon Arnold, Ben Lewis, and later Ross Finck, Kev started a radio show, producing tunes and Dj'ing all over the country at festivals at Rocking the Daisies, Oppikoppi etc. He runs the heart of the band, the Ableton Live based electronic setup.

Jonathan Arnold

Producer / Tenor Sax

Jon started out playing sax and clarinet throughout school, before packing that in for a while and messing around with turntables and sequencers. He's a complete nerd, develops software for a living, and lives to surf.
